The up-and-coming German artist Bernd Kirschner presented a selection of his new, atmospheric works in the GALERIE MESSMER! After numerous exhibitions in Berlin, Paris, Porto, Asia and the USA, among others, the works of Bernd Kirschner are now finding their way to Riegel for the second time.

Bernd Kirschner studied fine arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart from 2000 to 2006 with study visits to Great Britain. In Stuttgart he also received the Academy Prize in 2002 and 2004. This was followed in the years that followed by many other prizes and grants, such as the City of Constance sponsorship award, the Beijing Studio Scholarship, and the studio grant from the Künstlerhaus Edenkoben. In 2015 he was a guest lecturer in Huangzhou, China.

The artist was born in Memmingen in 1980 and now lives in Berlin, where his impressive paintings are created.

His works are mainly representational, borrowing from metaphysical, surrealist painting and traditional Chinese painting. The motifs of his acrylic and oil paintings range from peaceful, fantastic landscapes to mythological figurations behind discreetly veiling wafts of fog. He repeatedly takes up the motif of water, which is supported by his fine color palette.

His aim in his paintings is not to imitate, but rather to anticipate and precede reality. The depictions are always caught between illusion and reality.
