André Evard was a universal spirit. He has the painting taken to their limits.” – Jürgen A. Messmer

The bright colors in the autumn pictures by the Swiss artist André Evard are exceptionally powerful and supernaturally beautiful .

The autumnal landscapes are pictorial evidence of Evard’s great ability to capture precious moments in all their magic. His works captivate not only with their diverse and imposing colors , but above all with their originality .

André Evard was born in Renan in the Bernese Jura in 1876 . He moved to La Chaux-de-Fonds in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel when he was young. From 1923 to 1927 he lived in Paris , where he was exhibited in the most important exhibition halls, including the Salon d’Automne and Salon des Indépendants . He met masters of modern art such as Georges Braque , Robert Delaunay and Theo van Doesburg and earned their recognition.
Nonetheless, Evard returns to his homeland . Because there he is always inspired by the surrounding nature and its seasons.
La Chaux-de-Fonds is one of the most famous watch towns in Switzerland and one of the highest towns in Europe. From that height, Evard was particularly fascinated by the spectacle of light that he saw in the great outdoors. Swiss nature was one of the most important sources of inspiration for the artist.
