Bernd Kirschner

Bernd Kirschner was born in Memmingen in 1980 and studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart from 2000 to 2006. He lives and works in Berlin, with exhibitions in the USA and Asia, among other places. In autumn 2014 he held a visiting professorship in China.

Bernd Kirschner’s works, primarily acrylic and oil paintings, capture an almost mystical mood of light. He arranges peaceful landscape paintings, always taking up the motif of water. Behind wafts of fog, his delicate figures seem removed from the world – nevertheless his paintings captivate with their brilliant quality and a very fine color palette. His highly atmospheric works show numerous references to the tradition of Chinese painting.
