For the third time already, the Berlin artist SCHAREIN returns to the GALERIE MESSMER after the great public successes of 2014 and 2016. Born in Bassum in 1949, Günter Scharein gave up his teaching career in 1988 and has been working successfully as a freelance artist ever since. In addition to numerous solo exhibitions, his works are also represented in numerous public collections such as the German Bundestag, the Hoppe-Ritter Collection, Daimler, Pietzsch, IBM, Piepenbrock and the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart.
The intense colours that SCHAREIN skilfully combines interlock with harmonious colour gradients and create calmly pulsating depths as well as shimmering fields of light. With an immense amount of work, the result is highly nuanced colour tones interwoven with light, of spherical abstraction, dynamic and almost floating.
His paintings require an intensive examination of the power of colours and their individual properties, especially with regard to their miscibility. Even the slightest mistake can lead to an optical break in the finely graduated colour gradients. Only by studying the respective colour family, which SCHAREIN examines, can he fathom out its specific qualities and use them in a targeted manner.
