Ernest Fox
Along with Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Ernst Fuchs is one of the most important artists of the Austrian post-war period. Alongside Albert Paris Gütersloh, he was a co-founder of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism, an institution that opposed the abstract expressionism that had become popular after 1945 and combined old-master techniques with surreal or fantastic pictorial content.
Ernst Fuchs achieved world fame through his outstanding and versatile talent. Not only paintings and graphics were part of his extensive oeuvre, he also celebrated great successes as an architect, stage designer and musician.
