SCHAREIN

The power of colors

April 28, 2019 - June 30, 2019

The Berlin artist SCHAREIN is returning to GALERIE MESSMER for the third time , following the great public successes of 2014 and 2016. Günter Scharein, born in Bassum in 1949, gave up his job as a teacher in 1988 and has been working successfully as a freelance artist ever since. In addition to numerous individual exhibitions, his work is also represented in numerous public collections such as the German Bundestag, the Hoppe-Ritter Collection, Daimler, Pietzsch, IBM, Piepenbrock and the Stuttgart State Gallery.

The intense colours, which SCHAREIN skilfully combines, intertwine through harmonious color gradients and create quietly pulsating depths and shimmering fields of light . With an immense amount of work, highly nuanced tones of color interwoven with light are created, of spherical abstractness , dynamic and almost floating.

His pictures require an intensive examination of the power of colors and their individual properties, especially with regard to their miscibility. Even the slightest mistake can lead to an optical break in the finely graduated color gradients. Only by studying the respective color family that SCHAREIN examines can he fathom their specific qualities and use them in a targeted manner.
